Care Instructions
Real Fox Fur does require love and care, but in return it could last a lifetime!
Once you receive your Mai Luxury Fur garment, please note there may be some shredding. This is totally normal as the item is made from natural fur and it’s nearly unavoidable. Leave your fur hanged away from touching other garments for the fur to settle in the first few days. Shredding will decrease gradually on its own. Once you receive the package, it is recommended to hang your fur garment to let the fox fur breath and shake it out 2-3 times to return in its original shape since it’s wrapped in a package.
VERY IMPORTANT TIPS:
• Avoid spraying cosmetic products directly on the fur such as perfume, hair spray, etc. This is so important to follow especially on white fox furs so that it doesn’t get yellowed by time. The hairs on a fur coat can be damaged very easily by harsh chemicals, such as hair spray
• If you get your garment wet, simply shake the fur, removing as much water as possible and hand to dry at a room temperature. Please do not use hair dryer.
• Use broad padded hanger and store in the darkest, coolest closet. Do not use a plastic garment bag to store your fur, natural fur needs air circulation to breathe and avoid drying out.
• Your coat should be cleaned every year by a professional fur cleaner – not a dry cleaner. Even if you don’t wear it often, animal fur gathers dust, oils and odors.
• Keep the coat out of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight can dry out a fur coat and cause it to begin shedding. To avoid this, store the coat in a cool, dark place where it is not exposed to light or heat.
SHEDDING
Initially you may find your garment loses some fur. This is natural with any garment made from real fur, especially for lighter coloured garments. After a few wears and following our steps, this will eventually stop. Our recommendations; initially shaking your jacket outside a few times to rid the loose fibres, place your fur garment into the freezer for a period of time which reduces the initial shedding. On your first few wears, when shedding can be more noticeable, we recommend wearing pieces that the fur is less likely to stick to such as silks and satins. The shedding of loose fibres happens during those first few wears so even wearing the garment around the house prior to wearing it out can help fasten the process. Regardless, after those first few wears the fur settles down and eventually stops.
